Please note, if request involves a recruitment of a core funded position, the posting will be delayed for 30 days once approved, unless cabinet member includes compelling exception to waive the 30 day hold and exception is approved.
Review & Update the Job Description
Review and update the job description in JDX portal to ensure the position reflects the current need. Remove unnecessary licenses, degrees, outdated technology or tasks. Remember that this description will be used to create your position posting online and this information will be available to applicants.
To support effective recruitment and ensure position information remains accurate and competitive, supervisors should regularly review and update job descriptions prior to initiating a recruitment request. Common areas for review include:
- Confirm that job duties accurately reflect the current scope of work, operational needs, and day-to-day responsibilities of the position.
- Review education, experience, certifications, and technical skills to ensure requirements are necessary, relevant, and aligned with the job.
- Ensure the working title appropriately reflects the level, function, and nature of the role.
- Verify applicable supervisory relationships and organizational reporting lines are current.
- Review any physical demands, work environment expectations, scheduling requirements, or remote/hybrid work arrangements for accuracy.
- Confirm any required licenses or regulatory requirements remain applicable and current.
- Evaluate whether significant duty changes may warrant review of classification, exempt/non-exempt status, or compensation alignment in consultation with Human Resources.
- Remove obsolete language, redundant requirements, or responsibilities that are no longer performed by the position.
